This afternoon, a perfect August afternoon, I sat on the patio and read The New York Times – the Sunday Times. I enjoy the Times, even if I do not often agree with everything on the editorial pages. It is a snapshot of what is going on around the globe and so much of it well written and informative. It has become a good Sunday afternoon ritual for me, to read The Times.
I especially love the last page of the Magazine; usually an excerpt from a book soon to be published or a well written reflection. Today is was a piece taken from a book that will be published next month. The writing was beautiful and the story touching. Good writing is like good wine. You know within the first few sips that it is good. It embraces you so that you are consumed by its taste, holds you until the very end. Yet, something of it lingers on your palate for a very long time.
